Chicago…
… Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat
… Player with Railroads
… The nation’s freight handler
… City of the Big Shoulders
Come and show me another city with lifted head singing so proud… Excerpts from Carl Sandburg’s “Chicago”
Long ago, Carl Sandburg saw the strength and pride of this dynamic city on the shores of Lake Michigan. Today, Chicago and its many ethnically diverse neighborhoods are still dynamic, strong and proud.
One of Chicago’s newest neighborhoods is Westhaven Park in the city’s dynamic Near West Side. Located across from the magnificent United Center, home of the venerable Chicago Blackhawks and world champion Chicago Bulls, Westhaven Park offers 1, 2 and 3 bedroom luxury rental homes in an exciting new urbanist community that will eventually contain 760 rental and owner-occupied homes. Westhaven Park will also showcase a new centrally located two acre park that bears its name. Located just minutes from the Loop, Little Italy, Greektown and the Randolph Street Market, Westhaven Park puts you in touch with all the pleasures of city living.
Convenience:
Located near the green, blue and new pink line train stops, as well as Interstate Routes 90/94 and 290, Westhaven Park is minutes from the commercial district of Chicago and conveniently located for work or play. There are several major bus lines within a short walk and ample off-site as well as on-street parking for residents only.
Medical District:
Just blocks away is the Illinois Medical District, one of the largest of its type in the country. Within the District are the newly constructed Stroger Hospital of Cook County, Rush Presbyterian Hospital, UIC Hospital and other specialized health service organizations. Directly south of the Westhaven campus is a state-of-the-art 911 emergency-call center.
Education:
Proximate to the University of Illinois at Chicago, a major campus offering a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, Westhaven Park residents may also avail themselves of a number of other educational opportunities including the CPS Renaissance School, located directly west of the community. The school offers elevated year-round elementary school
education with a focus on computer based training, study abroad programming, mathematics, science and the arts.
Other area facilities include the James Jordan Boys and Girls Club, where participants enjoy life-skills development, physical fitness and group activities. Whitney Young, a magnet high school that consistently leads the city and state in achievement scores and graduates heading for college, is nearby, as is Malcolm-X College, which provides significant vocational opportunities in information technology, medical services and the construction trades.
Dining and Entertainment:
Select from a wide range of dining pleasures at venues such as La Luce, the Palace Grill, Flat Top Grill, Carmichael’s, The Tasting Room, Viaggio Ristorante and Lounge, Ina’s, and Coalfire or the Billy Goat Tavern, scene of Saturday Night Live’s Cheezeborger skit.
Enjoy sporting events, concerts, circuses and variety shows at the magnificent United Center, just minutes away. Work out on the indoor courts at Hoops or lace up those skates at Johnny’s Ice House.
Whatever your musical preference, from hip hop to down home blues, you’ll find a night club nearby to enhance your leisure hours.
